Due to an expired lease and need for more space, Attorney General John Formella seeks a 30-year, $37 million lease to move the Office of the Chief Medical Center from Concord Hospital to a nearby hospital-owned office building.

The proposal is to come before the Executive Council at its next meeting Wednesday at the Fulchino Winery complex in Hollis.

For 35 years, the state has paid Concord Hospital rent for the Medical Examiner’s offices and the use of the hospital’s morgue and autopsy areas.

That lease is up next September.

Concord Hospital officials want to use the OCME’s offices for its own needs, and has told the state it would raise by as much as 40% the fees it charges the state for use of its morgue, Formella said.
