The cabinet has proposed that the DC who was the chairman of the sub-committee be appointed as the ex-offico principal secretary.

Much to the relief of the employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) who have been waiting for their salaries for over 44 months, the Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday cleared an amount of Rs 50 crore to be used to pay the long pending salaries.

Briefing the media after the chairing the Cabinet meeting today in Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, said, “The cabinet today decided to release in advance, the share of the councils in their royalty and with this they will be able to clear certain amount of backlog of approximately 12 months and will be able to pay salaries in time”.
