LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (WKRN) — Jack Daniel's will no longer continue its Cow Feeder Program.
The Cow Feeder Program involved the sale of "stillage"— spent corn, rye and barley malt — made during the production of Jack Daniel's whiskey to area farmers so they could feed their cattle.
A spokesperson for the Tennessee whiskey company cited a "new anaerobic digester facility" requiring a "high volume of spent grain" as the main reason to discontinue the program.
"This commitment necessitates the redirection of all our current volume of 'slop,' which is why we must respectfully sunset the Cow Feeder Program for our local farmers," the spokesperson said. "We understand this change is significant, and we remain dedicated to our neighbors as we all adapt to this new era."
