Fire Tuesday damaged a unit on the third floor of a three-story apartment building in the Pico-Union community of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Firefighters dispatched at 6:40 a.m. to 1136 S. Alvarado St. had the fire out at 7:01 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

A 27-year-old man was evaluated at the scene for injuries, but refused hospital transport. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
