Following backlash over the now deleted X post regarding the Karur tragedy, a case has been registered against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna at the North Zone Cyber Crime Police Station under Sections 192, 196(1)(b), 197(1)(d), 353(1)(b), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The sections include:

Section 192 – Provocation with intent to cause riot.

Section 196(1)(b) – Acts promoting enmity between different groups or disturbing harmony.

Section 197(1)(d) – Acts prejudicial to the sovereignty, unity, or security of India.

Section 353(1)(b) – Making or publishing false statements, misinformation, or rumours causing harm to the public.

Section 353(2) – Whoever makes or circulates a statement leading to public mischief.
