ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgia’s lieutenant governor’s race became more crowded on Tuesday when state Sen. Greg Dolezal officially launched his campaign to replace current incumbent Burt Jones, who is running for governor.
Dolezal, a Republican, was first elected to the state Senate in 2018. He represents the 27th district, which encompasses a large portion of Forsyth County.
Like the man he wants to replace as president of the state senate, Dolezal is touting his support of President Donald Trump, who has already endorsed Jones in his quest to become Georgia’s 84th governor.
Dolezal serves as the Senate majority chief deputy whip, chairs the Senate committee on transportation and is vice chairman of the Senate committee on appropriations.
Dolezal is also an entrepreneur,
