Burlington County's Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst went into lockdown the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The base shared an alert via social media at approximately 11 a.m. A reason was not immediately disclosed to the public.

All personnel outdoors were advised to take cover.

Officials haven't yet confirmed the cause of the lockdown or a timeframe of when it may be lifted.

This base saw a lockdown in 2023 for an active shooter reported in an Army Reserve division. It reopened after approximately an hour when an investigation found there was no shooter.
