NEW YORK (PIX11) – The MTA voted to approve a price increase for subway, bus, and railroad fares as well as tolls on Tuesday.
Subway and bus fares will increase to $3, while fares for LIRR and some Metro-North lines will rise by 4.4% and tolls for bridges, tunnels, and parkways will increase to $7.46, according to the MTA board. The increase will go into effect in January 2026.
Riders who qualify for reduced fare will see an increase of $1.50, while express bus riders will pay $7.25. The OMNY fare cap will also rise to $35.
Metro-North fares will stay the same for West of Hudson service, including Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines.
The toll increase will impact drivers using the Midtown and Battery tunnels, as well as the Whitestone, Throgs Neck, Verrazzano, and Robert F. Kennedy br
