If you are planning to send gifts or letters this holiday season, it will cost you more than usual.

The U.S. Postal Service is raising prices for a limited time during the peak holiday season this year to help cover extra handling costs.

It will affect prices on several services, including:

Priority Mail Express

Priority Mail

USPS Ground Advantage

Parcel Select

The temporary rates will go into effect on Oct. 5, and remain in place until Jan. 18, 2026.

Here are the planned price changes.

Retail

Priority Mail and USPS Ground Advantage : Zone 1-4

$0.40 cents increase for Zones 1-4, 0-3 lbs.

$0.60 cents increase for Zones 1-4, 4-10 lbs.

$0.95 cents increase for Zones 1-4, 11-25 lbs.

$3.00 increase for Zones 1-4, 26-70 lbs and Oversized.

Priority Mail Zone 5-9

$0.90 cents in
