BEAUMONT, Texas — Port Arthur man with two prior DWI convictions was sentenced to 50 years in prison Tuesday for intoxication manslaughter in the death of a City of Port Arthur employee who was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle in 2022.

Christopher Henry James, 44, appeared before Judge Raquel West in 252nd District Court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to intoxication manslaughter in the death of James Addison, 47.

Prosecutor Luke Nichols asked for the full 50 years in prison allowed by the plea agreement, which Judge West granted.

The crash happened July 29, 2022, in the 100 block of Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur. Addison stopped at a red light while riding his motorcycle when James' car plowed into him, killing him instantly, according to a news release
