David Lammy has accused Nigel Farage of “flirting with Hitler Youth when he was younger” as the war of words between Labour and Reform UK plumbed new depths.

The deputy prime minister went on the attack after Farage said Keir Starmer was inciting violence against his party’s supporters.

In his keynote speech to the Labour conference in Liverpool, Starmer told the Reform leader his party would “fight you with everything we have ” between now and the next election.

In particular, he took aim at Reform UK’s plan to scrap “indefinite leave to remain” status, which could see immigrants who have lived in the UK for decades deported if they do not earn enough money.
