The trial of a woman accused of plotting to murder her romantic rival in Tamarac more that three years ago was underway on Tuesday.
Sakiyna Thompson, 31, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the July 2022 killing of 23-year-old Kayla Hodgson. Broward Sheriff's Office
Broward Sheriff's Office officials said Thompson flew to South Florida from New York days before the murder with the intent of killing Hodgson.
The two women were dating the same man, detectives said.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys wrapped up their opening arguments on Tuesday morning, and the trial was expected to last several days.
Thompson faces the possibility of the death penalty if she's convicted.
