On Tuesday, Montrealers are coming together for the Every Child Matters march to honour Indigenous children who were taken from their families and never returned from residential schools.

The march starting at the George-Étienne Cartier Monument in Parc du Mont-Royal at 1 p.m. Participants — many dressed in orange and carrying drums — are walking through downtown Montreal along Parc Ave., Sherbrooke St. and Mansfield St., before coming together at Place du Canada.

The event marked the fifth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — a day to remember those lost, support survivors and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
