DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) - The law firm representing Dr. Ian Roberts, the superintendent recently detained by immigration authorities, has released a letter to the media regarding his position in the Des Moines Public Schools.

The letter says he is immediately resigning as the superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools. The letter goes on to say that Roberts is doing this out of concern for the 30,000 students in the district.

“Dr. Roberts does not want to distract the board, educators and staff from focusing on educating DMPS’s students,” stated the letter.
