Second-seeded Coco Gauff overcame a first-set misstep to record a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over 16th-seeded Belinda Bencic in the fourth round of the China Open on Tuesday in Beijing.

Gauff, the tournament's defending champion, recorded four aces and overcame eight double faults to dispatch the Switzerland native in 2 hours and 29 minutes.

Gauff's third victory this season over Bencic allowed her to clinch a spot in the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh.

But it was far from easy for Gauff, who squandered a 4-1 lead in the first set. She bounced back in the second and cruised in the third to improve to 12-2 in three-set matches this year.
