A government shutdown would have wide-ranging impacts, and those could impact operations at Acadia National Park in Maine, NBC affiliate News Center Maine reports.

In previous shutdowns, national parks remained open, but with limited staffing. But there is a push from members of the Coalition to Protect America's National Parks to temporarily close them if the shutdown hits at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, as anticipated.

“There will be people in the park whether it's barricaded or not because you can't barricade all the islands,” aid Sheridan Steele, a former superintendent for Acadia, told News Center Maine.
