The New Orleans mayoral race has remained largely unchanged in the final weeks of campaigning, with Helena Moreno maintaining a more than 30-point lead among likely voters in the latest publicly available poll.
The poll conducted by the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center from Sept. 20-24 and published Tuesday shows 49% support for Moreno among respondents, with state Sen. Royce Duplessis earning 15% support and District E Councilmember Oliver Thomas 13%.
The results mirror another poll conducted two weeks earlier that showed Moreno, the City Council's vice president, with a similar double-digit lead over her opponents. In that survey, however, Moreno surpassed the 50% threshold needed to win outright and Thomas was ahead of Duplessis.
