GREENSBORO, N.C. — This. Is. Personal. The scammers called my mom today, and that same scammer could be ringing your mom's or grandma's phone next.

"I picked it up and she said, Is this Jane? And I said, Yes, and who is this? And she said, Well, I wanted to know if you got your Medicare card. And I said, I have a Medicare card and she said, Well, some of the Medicare cards are not working," said Jane, a Medicare consumer.

My mom's Medicare card and all the other Medicare cards out there are working just fine. There is nothing wrong with the cards or the numbers-- so don't be fooled.

Medicare enrollment opens in about two weeks, so this is the time for the scams to increase. But really, every season is open season for medicare scams.
