A long-time downtown Toronto tavern featuring a glowing red neon sign will be closing its doors permanently to condo developers.
The owners of The Imperial Pub, in business for more than eight decades, announced they will be serving their last pint and meal in mid-November.
“Thank you, Toronto, for 81 wonderful years,” the pub’s website reads.
“With great sadness, we must inform you that we will be closing the pub on Nov. 15, 2025. It has been an honour and a delight to serve you.”

The historic pub, located at 54 Dundas St. E., will make way for developers who plan to build a 23-storey mixed-use building with 336 residential units proposed on the block bounded by Victoria and Bond Sts., according to city planning documents.
