Victor Wembanyama lands at shocking spot in latest NBA rankings

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama was likely to win the Defensive Player of the Year award in just his second NBA season before a blood clot sidelined him after 46 appearances.

His sophomore year was off to a tremendous start, as he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks on 47.6% shooting and 35.2% from three-point range. All of these factors point to Wembanyama already being a top 10 player in the league, which The Sporting News' Stephen Noh clearly agrees with.

Noh placed Wembanyama in the No. 5 spot in his latest NBA player rankings , only trailing Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic.
