Nashville International Airport officials said all available data pointed toward Sept. 15 being an average day of traffic up and down Terminal Drive. Instead, almost eight hours of intense traffic congestion trailed from I-24 into the airport, resulting in long walks, abandoned vehicles and missed flights.
In the days following the unexpected gridlock , BNA initiated an internal investigation to determine what went wrong and how traffic could have been better predicted.
