**Title: Mother of Missing Boy in Crowsnest Pass Seeks Information**
The search for a missing six-year-old boy in Crowsnest Pass has entered its second week. His mother, Maegan Bernicky, is urgently asking for any information regarding her son, Darius Macdougall. Darius, who is from Lethbridge, was last seen on the morning of Sunday, September 21, while walking with family members near a campsite at Island Lake Provincial Recreation Area. He was reported missing at 11:33 a.m. after his family searched for him for about an hour.
“As a mother who is very concerned about her child, I am pleading with my entire being if anyone knows or has seen anything, call the police,” Bernicky said. She emphasized that any information from September 21 to the present in the Crowsnest Pass area could be crucial.
Bernicky also urged the public to share her son’s photograph on social media to increase visibility. “I’m never going to stop looking for Darius until he’s safe,” she stated in a social media post.
In a recent update, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that the search for Darius is ongoing. The search efforts have included the use of an RCMP helicopter, drones, and search dogs. “The priority today is a targeted search of higher probability areas that have previously been searched multiple times,” an RCMP spokesperson said. Ground search teams are also following up on leads provided by the public.
On Sunday, RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney informed the media that officials had met with Darius's family and conveyed that the chances of finding him alive were less than five percent. This assessment was based on several factors, including his clothing, health status, weather conditions, terrain, and statistical survival rates.
Adam Kennedy from Alberta Search and Rescue noted that both ground and air search strategies are being adjusted due to the current stage of the search.
Darius is described as four feet tall with short brown hair. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a blue and grey hoodie and sweatpants. Authorities are urging anyone who may have had contact with Darius to reach out to the Crowsnest Pass RCMP at 403-562-2866. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or via the P3 Tips mobile app. The non-emergency line for any Alberta RCMP jurisdiction is 310-RCMP.
