The Clear Lake Fire Department extinguished a blaze in the basement of a residence in Clear Lake shortly before 8:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The occupants of the home had evacuated the house and removed a pet dog, according to a press release from the CLFD. No injuries were reported.

The fire in the laundry area was extinguished quickly by fire crews, and the home was ventilated because of the smoke, the press release states. Damage is estimated at $7,500.

The cause of the fire was determined to have been from lint buildup in the vent of the clothes dryer being ignited by heat from the dryer, according to the press release.

The Clear Lake Police Department assisted at the scene.
