Kia has issued a safety recall for older SUV models due to electrical issues that could cause a fire.

Around 39,530 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration .

Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that the main cause of the recall is electrical faults with the vehicles’ HVAC system.

An electrical connection to the blower motor can overheat when using the air conditioning or heating, which can increase the risk of fire.

The recall affects 2021, 2022, and 2022 model years of Kia’s popular Sorento SUV.

The auto manufacturer warned any Sorento owner to be on the lookout for a burning or melting smell, smoke coming from the vents, or the blower not working.
