Syracuse, N.Y. – Jim Boeheim repeated the word “terrible” several times during a brief conversation.
The longtime Syracuse basketball coach, the man who recruited and coached Lawrence Moten, struggled to find sufficient words to describe what he was feeling about Moten’s passing.
“I just don’t know what to say, honestly. Just crushing,” Boeheim said. “He was just so good for so long and tremendously loyal to the program. Just a great person. Great father, great person. This is a sad day. Syracuse basketball is sad today.”
Moten was found dead in his home Tuesday morning, his daughter Lawrencia told Syracuse.com. By Tuesday afternoon, news of his passing had spread to former teammates, friends, people who loved him.
