A Mays Landing woman admitted Tuesday filing false employment tax returns that hid a company's cash payroll over a six-year period, acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba said.

Denise Davis, 52, pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the IRS. She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced Feb. 4.

Davis was working at Davis Brothers Chimney Sweep and Masonry in Egg Harbor Township when she and Henry Collins, the business' bookkeeper, worked to defraud the IRS between Jan. 1, 2018, and April 30, 2024, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release.
