Ispent part of last week in San Francisco, the California city America has been trained to hate. Even a lot of Californians hate it.

But I love SF. I visit every year, for cultural, food, baseball and stair-climbing reasons.

September is arguably the best month, weather-wise. San Francisco is actually warm, unlike June, when tourists show up in shorts and tank tops and, teeth chattering, are soon buying souvenir sweatshirts.

September makes for a good month to see a night baseball game too. Especially for me, because it seems like the St. Louis Cardinals, my team , always play in SF that month.
