The Cubs broke out of an early offensive funk in a big way in the fifth inning of Tuesday's Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series vs. the Padres.
Seiya Suzuki and Carson Kelly hit back-to-back homers, sending the Wrigley Field crowd into a frenzy and giving the Cubs a 2-1 lead. It's the first time the Cubs have gone back-to-back in the postseason since Miguel Montero and Dexter Fowler did it in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series in 2016, when the club eventually went on to win the World Series. It's the fourth time Chicago has gone back-to-back in its postseason history.
This was the fifth straight game with a homer for Suzuki, who was named the NL Player of the Week.
