Syracuse men's basketball legend Lawrence Moten has passed away at the age of 53. SU athletics confirming the report to NewsChannel 9 on Tuesday.
Moten finished his career at Syracuse as the program's All-Time leader in points with 2,334. He currently ranks second in Big East history. Lawrence scored in double figures in 118 of his 121 games played at Syracuse, averaging better than 19 points and four rebounds a game. Moten was voted a second-team All-American his senior season at SU.
In 1995, the Vancouver Grizzlies selected Lawrence in the second round of the NBA Draft.
Following his professional playing career, Moten returned to the Syracuse area to help mentor youth groups within the Syracuse City School District. Recently, Lawrence returned to Washington
