MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A teacher at Grantosa Drive Elementary School is facing charges after allegedly hitting an 11-year-old student on a school bus.

William Houghton, 63, is charged with physical abuse of a child (intentional causation of bodily harm).

Officers responded to the school the morning of Sept. 22, according to the criminal complaint, and met with the assistant principal, who reported that the incident occurred on Sept. 18.

Prosecutors say video surveillance from the school bus shows Houghton slap the student across the face, noting that it appears the teacher "winds up his arm twice" to hit the student.
