TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A group of southern Arizona mayors have sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson, urging him to swear in Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva.

As 13 News reported Monday , Grijalva has not been sworn in following her victory in a Special Election to fill the seat left vacant by the late Raul Grijalva.

In their letter, the mayors wrote:

“Every day that Congresswoman-elect Grijalva’s swearing-in is postponed is a day that 800,000 Arizonans are denied their full voice in the People’s House . Our communities face urgent challenges – in healthcare, education, water and infrastructure, and housing affordability – that require federal attention.
