The Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 to come out with a win in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series.
Thanks to back-to-back home runs from Seiya Suzuki and Carson Kelly, the Cubs secured the first win of the series at Wrigley Field as the two teams battle in a best-of-three to stay in the postseason.
The series marks Chicago's first postseason appearance since 2020 and first postseason win since 2017. The Wild Card Series will determine who will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series.
Game 2 will begin at 2:08 p.m. CT on Wednesday at Wrigley Field. Game 3 of the series, if necessary, would be played on Thursday, though a start time has not yet been determined.
