MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Adelaide Pointe in Muskegon is facing a lawsuit from a bank that claims it has defaulted on a $17 million loan.

Adelaide Pointe, Michigan’s first new marina in almost three decades, has been opening in stages since 2024. The $250 million waterfront project at 1204 Western Ave. along Muskegon Lake includes wet and dry marinas, a restaurant, an event center and bike paths.

In a lawsuit filed in Kent County Circuit Court Sept. 23, Independent Bank says it loaned the project almost $30 million. It says Adelaide Pointe and its developer, Ryan Leestma, still owe around $28 million, including interest.

Some $17 million was due in July, the bank says in the lawsuit.
