SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - A man is in custody after police say he attempted to sexually assault a woman on the James S. Miner Train in Corunna Sunday evening.

Corunna police responded around 7:11 p.m. on September 28 after reports of an assault. Officers say the woman was able to fight off her attacker, who was arrested in the area shortly after. The case remains under investigation.

Community members say the incident is both surprising and unsettling. Dave Hoy, who frequently walks the trail, said, “It shocks me that somebody would do that to somebody else. That’s disgusting.”
