BEAUMONT, Texas — The future of Beaumont ISD remains unclear after Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath toured campuses in the district Tuesday as part of an ongoing review that could result in a state takeover.
Morath visited three campuses that received failing grades from the TEA, where he and Superintendent Dr. Shannon Allen observed classrooms. These included Fehl-Price, Pietzsch-MacArthur, and Vincent Middle School. The district received a “D” accountability score last school year, with seven of its 26 campuses failing, including five elementary schools and two middle schools.
