WATERLOO, Iowa — Allen Hospital and Allen College are marking a significant milestone as they celebrate their 100th anniversaries with a special event this weekend. "Fall for Allen" kicks off on Friday morning at the Allen College campus.
Artist Bill Close is creating mega-sculptures out of pumpkins, which will be a highlight of the event. Attendees can also enjoy an exhibit showcasing items from Allen's 100-year history.
The event features 1,500 pumpkins used in sculptures and ground mosaics. Families can look forward to kids' activities, including llamas on Friday and Saturday, and local food trucks will be on-site serving treats.
"Fall for Allen" runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Friday through Sunday at the Allen College campus in Waterloo.
