POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) - It has taken almost four years for Poplarville Mayor Louise Smith to receive a letter from the United States Postal Service that didn’t leave her with more questions than answers.
“We actually made contact with the United States Postal Service,” Mayor Smith proudly told WLOX News. “It’s tremendous. It’s been a long time coming.”
It has practically taken an act of Congress to get to this point: USPS took bids in April to remodel an old grocery store into the new Poplarville Post Office. The 5,700 square-foot facility will be in a strip mall on South Main Street. Work should begin in October with a completion date of April 2026.
