A major reason behind the Clark women’s soccer team’s strong start has been a defense anchored by goalkeeper Ella Lulich.

Lulich was honored as the Northwest Athletic Conference defensive player of the week for Sept. 15-21 following a pair of strong performances.

The freshman from Silverton, Ore., made 13 saves to secure a 0-0 draw against Centralia on Sept. 20. Clark was outshot 20-11 in that match.

In a 4-1 win over Pierce on Sept. 17, Lulich had multiple point-blank stops among her 13 saves.

Lulich’s .939 save percentage ranks second among all goalkeepers in the NWAC. She has allowed just three goals in 429 minutes of action.
