ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta, but they may encounter construction on Interstate 25, which is a top priority for the Department of Transportation. The congested roads could see increased traffic this weekend as visitors arrive for the event.
"We expect a heightened amount of travelers coming through our state for the Balloon Fiesta, which is the fourth through the 12th this year. And so, what we're doing on the I-25 construction team is leaving three lanes of traffic open each direction. So, three lanes of I-25 will be open both directions, throughout the Fiesta," said a Kim Gallegos, the District Three public information officer for the Department of Transportation.
Traffic will be particularly tight at I-25
