NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- An area school board leader was called out on social media by members of the Republican Party after they deemed a post he made included "lies" about conservatives.

The McLean County Republican Party wrote in a Facebook post saying that Unit 5 School Board President Alex Williams "insulted a vast majority of his student body and their families" after sharing on social media, following the death of Charlie Kirk, a video that was captioned "what MAGA cult believes."

A spokesperson for the McLean County Republican Party wrote in their post saying there was a misinterpretation of the party as a whole and its voters.

"As a public leader, he should not resort to such tactics. This post distorts, mischaracterizes, and lies about conservative Americans across this nation.
