SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa (KWQC) - Superintendents in the Quad-Cities Area said their vetting process for educators is “pretty intense.”

Questions were raised after the superintendent of Iowa’s largest school district was detained by ICE on Friday. ICE officials say Ian Roberts, a native of Guyana, was detained on a deportation order, and guns and cash were later found in the Des Moines School District car he was driving. A lawyer for Roberts said he resigned Tuesday.

People want to know how his citizenship status was missed by school officials.
