ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — As autumn settles into the Rockford region, local golf courses are winding down for the season.

But, with unseasonably warm weather, area golfers are taking full advantage of the favorable fall conditions.

While summer crowds have thinned, many players say fall is the best time to tee it up.

Matt Corcoran, general manager of Newburg Village Golf Club in Cherry Valley, says October is a special time for local players.

“As we have the ‘swan song’ month of October, people—we love to see them excited, hitting their best tee shots. The courses are great,” Corcoran said.

Golfers like Bryan Kerber, who plays twice a week, say the combination of mild weather and pristine course conditions makes fall golf especially enjoyable.
