The Portland Pilots have made a historic climb to No. 1 in the men’s soccer coaches poll.

The Pilots, No. 2 a week ago, moved atop this week’s poll, overtaking previous No. 1 North Carolina State, which fell to No. 2.

This is Portland’s first-ever appearance as No. 1 in the men’s soccer coaches poll. The Pilots were ranked No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Soccer Association of America poll in 1992. The first coaches poll came out in 1996.

Portland (7-0-1) has an unbeaten streak of 18 games that reaches back to the 2024 season. The Pilots have wins this season over Denver, a 2024 NCAA College Cup semifinalist, and Wisconsin. The tie was a draw against No. 21 Saint Lous.

The Pilots have posted shutouts in seven of their eight games this season.
