Forward Travis Boyd is extremely confident his second tenure with the Maple Leafs will be a lot better than his first.

Not that the hockey was bad. It was the world. It was the 2020-21 season, the COVID year, the year Canadian teams only faced each other, a year of daily tests, cancelled games and self-isolation.

“I remember that season being an absolute headache and a nightmare,” Boyd said. “We had to get tested every single day, and it wasn’t just that. You lived in a little bit of fear because you didn’t want to be the guy who was the first one to get it, and then you give it to a bunch of other people.
