PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners held a security briefing Tuesday regarding the safety measures being instituted at the Central Library.

The new safety measures follow a deadly shooting , as well as a stabbing outside the library this summer.

Some of the new security measures in place since July 1 - the day of the deadly shooting - include having public safety officers conducting walkthroughs, adding four new security officers, increased perimeter patrols, and stationing security officers at the front doors.

County officials say that since the new security measures were instituted, the library has seen a drop in the daily average number of security incidents.
