DENVER (KDVR) — On Tuesday night, two metro-area soccer teammates who were killed in a road crash were honored by their team.
The teammates’ soccer coach says the two 13-year-olds who died are David Murguia and Diego Rubio.
Their coach, David Lugo, says the two were being driven on Thursday night down Interstate 25 in Greenwood Village when they were involved in a multi-vehicle accident, which sent a total of six people to local area hospitals.
Both teens were considered talented soccer players. Murguia was a forward. Rubio: a left back.
A moment of silence and balloon release were held on a soccer field in southwest Denver. Many of the duo’s teammates were spotted wearing T-shirts with pictures of Murguia and Rubio.
