FRISCO, Texas — A Louisiana man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally shooting a 62-year-old man and wounding an employee at a Frisco Walmart in 2023, prosecutors announced.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said Monday that a jury found Jhirrell Harris, 44, of Monroe, Louisiana, guilty of capital murder for the November 2023 killing of 62-year-old Dung Doan. Judge Benjamin Smith handed down a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Police said Harris opened fire the night of Nov. 15, 2023, outside the Walmart at Preston Road and Hickory Street, killing Doan and wounding Zachary Lowe, 22, an Army veteran and Walmart employee who was on break.
