Following a successful workshop in early September, New Mexico State University and University of Texas at El Paso faculty and staff have agreed to jointly research brain and behavioral health issues of concern to communities and professionals in this region.
Since then, the universities have looked for funding to support research on issues of regional interest raised in their workshop.
An example of topics to explore is burnout among mental health professionals, and ways to mitigate it, said Michael Hout, associate dean of research in the NMSU College of Health, Education and Social Transformation.
