Bhubaneswar : A new low-pressure system over the central Bay of Bengal is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression by October 2. As it approaches the coast, it may bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Going by the prediction of the regional weather department, the system is expected to cross the coast on October 3, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rainfall. The weather office has issued a yellow alert for 25 districts in Odisha, indicating potential thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
