PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Wyatt Detention Center detainee was sentenced on Tuesday for possessing and distributing contraband inside the facility, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

36-year-old Matthew Pizarro was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison, followed by 24 months of supervised release, with the first six months to be served on home confinement.

According to Bloom, Pizarro had admitted that he worked with others inside and outside the facility to “arrange for the delivery and distribution of contraband.”

Video surveillance showed a now former correctional officer visiting Pizarro’s cell for less than a minute, then Pizzaro visiting a detainee’s cell for less than a minute.
